In November, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) will take place in Glasgow. More than 190 world leaders will meet to discuss global action against climate change. London has a big part to play in tackling the climate emergency.
The Mayor is aiming for London to be a zero-carbon city by 2030, so what role should the Mayor play in engaging with the conference on behalf of the capital?
Tomorrow, the Environment Committee will investigate.
The guests are:
- Pete Daw, Assistant Director, Environment and Energy & Head of Climate Change, Greater London Authority (GLA)
- Elliot Treharne, Assistant Director for Environment & Energy, GLA
- Frances Way, Executive Director, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), High Level Climate Action Champion
- Farhana Yamin, Adviser, Climate Vulnerable Forum and Associate Fellow, Chatham House
- Keith Bottomley, Vice Chairman of Policy & Resources Committee, Chairman of the Environmental Services Committee, City of London Corporation
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 13 July 2021 from 10am.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend but numbers may be limited. The meeting can also be watched live here.
