The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee today took the rare[1] decision to issue a summons notice requesting the 2016/17 annual accounts for E20 Stadium LLP.
The Assembly has requested information on the financial viability of the stadium regularly, more recently during the oral update given by the Mayor at the Mayor’s Question Time meeting on 14 September 2017 and the question and answer sessions with the London Legacy Development Corporation at the Assembly Plenary meeting on 2 November.
The documents and files are to be provided no later than two weeks from the date of the summons notice.
Gareth Bacon AM, Chairman of the Budget and Performance Committee said:
“This company spends vast amounts of public money, and we know that it is in financial difficulty – but we have been prevented from seeing the accounts of E20 Stadium LLP. Why?
The Assembly needs this information immediately, so we can assess whether this Mayor is making the right decisions when it comes to the London Stadium and Olympic legacy.
The Assembly needs to do its job of scrutinising the issues that matter to London, unhindered.”
