Many London local authorities are currently engaged in estate refurbishments involving the installation of PVC windows. Given that it takes eight times more energy to make a PVC window than a timber window, that PVC windows generate 48% more waste than timber windows, and that dangerous chemicals are emitted during the production of PVC windows, will you urge all local authorities to favour timber windows over PVC, to amend their procurement policies, and to renegotiate contracts wherever possible?
