Given the closure of East London Line, with no cross-river replacement service, will Transport for London consider increasing the frequency of the 381 bus service towards London Bridge to improve access to north London for those living in Rotherhithe? Have Transport for London considered extending East London Line replacement services to add capacity to this route at peak times?

Is the Mayor aware of the poor state of road surfaces on parts of the Transport for London Road Network, for example in Brixton, and the difficulties this poses for cyclists? What is the process for carrying out timely repairs and how are high standards, which avoid re-repairs, maintained?

This question has also been sent to the Metropolitan Police Authority. Is there a standard location where police officers in the capital display their identification numbers? I understand that some British Transport Police officers display identification on their chest, whilst Metropolitan Police officers usually display identification on their shoulders. Do you agree that a standardised approach to this issue across all police forces operating in London would help reduce public confusion?

I understand that the 344 bus route is still suffering from severe overcrowding during the morning rush hour period, despite the improvements to this route that you described when I last raised this issue, in March 2005. Does Transport for London have plans to increase capacity along this route for residents of Clapham and Battersea who are travelling into the City, given the diversion of the 44 bus route to Victoria and the large number of new residential developments in and around Battersea?
