  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
In Mayoral Decision 658, you instructed the LDA to 'allocate up to £400k from its 2010/11 budget towards the establishment of London & Partners 'including legal advice, HR advice and other associated transition costs'. Did London & Partners receive legal advice on the issue of pension liabilities and did they share that advice with GLA officers?

What Visit London assets did London & Partners purchase from Visit London's administrators?

Visit London 3

  • Reference: 2011/1793
  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
177 former employees of Visit London stand to see the value of their pensions significantly eroded over time, with 98 of these (as deferred members) receiving an automatic 10% cut in their pension entitlement. When there were so many options at your disposal to avoid this catastrophic situation, why did allow London & Partners to 'dump' Visit London's pension liabilities?

Visit London 2

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
In your letter to me of 03.05.11, you stated that 'the 39 staff you refer to is clearly a blow but the loss of 10% of such [pension] benefits ... could not be avoided'. Given that the number of pensioners affected by the decision not to take on Visit London's pension liabilities is actually 177 - not insignificant by any means - are you willing to reconsider you position?

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
At what point, if any, did Dan Ritterband, your Director of Marketing and former Visit London Board Member, inform you that the number of staff that would be affected if London & Partners did not take on Visit London's pension liabilities is not 39, as you recently stated in a letter to me and as was maintained by Dame Judith Mayhew-Jonas at the EDCST committee of 24.05.11, but is, in fact, 177 people (39 who transferred to London & Partners; 40 current members in receipt of a pension and 98 deferred members who have rights under the scheme but have...

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
Dan Ritterband, your Director of Marketing, was a member of the Visit London Board in the year before it went in to administration as a result of 'London & Partners' decision not to take onboard it's pension liabilities. Given that the issue of pension liabilities was discussed at board meetings throughout this period, at what point did Mr Ritterband inform you of these discussions?

Cuts to Youth Offending Teams

  • Reference: 2011/1789
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
You did not answer my Question 1420/2011 where I asked if you had added your voice to London Council's representations to government against cuts to youth offending teams. I repeat my question below: Have you added your voice to London Councils' plea to the Government to reverse the planned funding cuts to youth offending teams, which will see funding reduced by as much as 30% for some boroughs?

Youth Justice Board

  • Reference: 2011/1788
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 15 June 2011
You did not answer my Question 425/2011 where I asked what interventions you had made, and what assessments you had done or planned to do in relation to the scrapping of the Youth Justice Board - you only informed me of the Secretary for State's views. I repeat the original question below: In your response 1188/2011 you replied that the Government had 'not specifically assessed the effect that disbanding the YJB and cuts to the early intervention grant will have on levels of youth offending in London.' Given this was your understanding, please can you explain to me what interventions...
