Road safety

On 27 March, one of my constituents, Mr Frank Mugisha, was tragically killed by a car while cycling near the junction of the A10 and White Hart Lane. A police investigation is underway into his death. Is Transport for London undertaking its own investigation into this incident? If so can you advise whether the speed and / or junction layout was a factor in this instance?

Air Quality

We know that our poor air quality, caused by high PM10 and N02 levels, is contributing to the deaths of thousands of Londoners each year. Looking at the current figures from the Bowes Primary School air quality monitoring station in my constituency I can see that the N02 readings had already in exceeded the 2012 Annual limit by April. Just how long are my constituents going to have to wait for you to revise your approach to tackling this most serious issue so that we have an Air Quality Strategy in London that's fit for purpose?

Funding to cut youth re-offending

Please could you provide me with details of your plans to utilise the £3.5m to tackle youth re-offending. Could you set out the details of programmes targeted at supporting young people? Can you please also explain whether this will be a universal scheme for all 14-17 year olds remanded or sentenced? If not, what criteria will be used to select the young people from this demographic?

Dispensation from Riot Damages Act deadline

One of my local businesses destroyed by the riots in August was Paradise Gems, a pawnbrokers run by Mr Moore, on Tottenham High Road. Although 90% of the stolen stock was owned by customers, the police advised Mr Moore not to inform his customers as it may hinder police investigations. The result is that customers were not advised before the extended 42 day deadline for the Riot Damages Act (RDA) and have therefore missed the opportunity to claim for their stolen valuables.
