Kennington station

  • Reference: 2012/1615
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 13 June 2012
I have been contacted by the Heart of Kennington Residents' Association and Cleaver Square, Cleaver Street and Bowden Street Residents' Association who are concerned about crowding at Kennington station. They believe, not unreasonably that the station is relatively small, given it's strategic importance on the network and that should the Northern Line extension come to fruition this will make the problem worse. What assessment have TfL made of the current and future capacity at Kennington and what plans are there to maximise this?

484 bus

  • Reference: 2012/1613
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 13 June 2012
Pensioners in the Dulwich/Denmark Hill area have been in touch with me to raise again the issue of poor access to the Sainsbury's store in Dog Kennel Hill, and that customers have to make a fairly lengthy walk from the bus stop to the store. Please could this be reviewed again as some older residents in particular are finding this a problem. In particular it has been suggested that route 484 could perhaps be diverted to serve the store itself.

Childcare Affordability

  • Reference: 2012/1606
  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 13 June 2012
Further to the question asked last month on Childcare Affordability in London (MQ 1432/2012) by Assembly Member Arnold more evidence has come to light from the Daycare Trust's Annual Survey showing that London's parents are struggling to pay their childcare bills and that as a result London's childcare provision is at risk. Along with your scrapping of London's Childcare Affordability Programme, Tax Credit support for low income parents has been cut by an average of £800 a year in London (compared to £500 in the rest of the UK) at the same time that wages have been frozen. Aside from...
