'Meet the Mayor' Event (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
My line of questioning is about reaching out to partners like the boroughs. What plans do you have to engage in closer dialogue with individual London boroughs?

'Meet the Mayor' Event (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Angie Bray
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
We read in the Evening Standard the other day that you have been getting advice from some of your officers not to release the consultation papers to us, because they are concerned that that will raise more questions than it would answer.

'Meet the Mayor' Event (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Roger Evans
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
Since the last Question Time, when we discussed the state of the A12 and the dispute between Redbridge Council and Transport for London over payment for it, I wondered whether you had had a chance to reach out to Redbridge Council to discuss the resolution of that issue.

National Stadium (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Louise Bloom
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
You may be aware that, rather bizarrely, Howard Wilkinson is pointing out that East Midlands airport is near the proposed site. I do not have visions of huge numbers of England fans arriving by plane from all points of the compass - it seems a little strange.

  • Question by: Louise Bloom
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
Are you aware of the article in The Times at the weekend by Howard Wilkinson, the Technical Director of the FA, who suddenly seems to be pushing Birmingham again, and the fact that the new Sports Minister, Richard Caborn, has given this argument legs as well? Would it be possible for you to arrange a meeting with the FA, rather than just with Sir Rodney Walker, to make sure that they realise the level of investment there already is in the London end of the project?

Public Transport and the EU (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
Are you not aware that part of the reason we got into this mess is that TfL was invited to propose drafting for this regulation and failed to respond? What will you do to ensure that it does not screw up in future - if that is the case?

Public Transport and the EU (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Graham Tope
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
That was my next supplementary - what discussion have you had thus far with the British Government to ensure that at least our own Government will support our stand on this?

  • Question by: Graham Tope
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
I am interested that you specifically mentioned Sarah Ludford, because I understand that she says she has heard nothing from you; but perhaps there is a communication problem there. I understand also that you are working with Paris. What other mayors and major transport operators across the European Union are you working with?

Meeting with Secretary of State (Supplementary) [27]

  • Question by: Bob Neill
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
The fact that that extraordinary guarantee was given under Government pressure, as you say, immediately before a general election, surely destroys any faith that Londoners can have that this Government are prepared to deliver anything on the Tube. Can you envisage any circumstances in which you and Bob Kiley could in all honesty work the dog's breakfast that is likely to be handed over to you for the next three or four years?

Meeting with Secretary of State (Supplementary) [26]

  • Question by: Sally Hamwee
  • Meeting date: 20 June 2001
The Government were also pressed very hard by the Liberal Democrats and agreed that they would be quite clear about the public sector comparator, about which we appear to have heard rather little.
