Spending Review (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Lord Bailey of Paddington AM: Thank you. I have short time, Mayor, so clip them off. How much of the £39 billion for affordable homes will London be getting?

Spending Review (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Thomas Turrell
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Thomas Turrell AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. In last week’s SR the Government claimed it recognised the potential growth in housing benefits of the DLR extension to Thamesmead and that it is committed to working with TfL to explore the options for delivery. Given the vitalness of this extension, do you agree with me that the Government should now move beyond exploring options and focus on helping deliver this project?

Spending Review (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Hina Bokhari OBE
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Hina Bokhari OBE AM: Thank you. When [The Rt Hon Sir] Keir Starmer [Prime Minister] won the election, you said this was a resetting to the relationship between City Hall and the Government. Let us be honest, the Chancellor has not prioritised London in the SR, this Labour Government has devalued London and seems to have very little respect for you as Mayor and the promises that you made to Londoners. Is this new Government not only anti-London, but also anti-you?

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Lord Bailey of Paddington AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. In this whole very sordid and sorry affair, one of the biggest failings were that people in positions of authority, police officers, council officers, did not feel like they could stand their ground and make a complaint on the grounds of race. They were terrified of being labelled as racist. We know that police morale in London is particularly low, this being one of the themes. What work will City Hall, you and your office, be doing to make sure that our police officers in particular, but council officers and any...

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Alessandro Georgiou
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Alessandro Georgiou AM: Thank you very much, Chair. Mr Mayor, I hope you and your family are keeping well. On the point of the new national inquiry that is to begin soon, there has been reports that you have tried to lobby Members of Parliament, Ministers, Secretaries of State or potentially the Prime Minister himself to avoid a national inquiry. Just to clear this up now, is that the case?

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Susan Hall
  • Meeting date: 19 June 2025
Susan Hall AM: Yes, OK, if I could just do the Carnival. My question really would be, should the Government fund an event that two people died at last year? You are quite right, it is a victim of its own success, and we just cannot cope with more people in those small streets. It is a disaster waiting to happen. It is very unpalatable for it to be stopped. Having said that, it is so dangerous there now and, quite frankly, any police officer you speak to does not want to go. I just wonder whether you think that...
