Evidence based review of resource allocation (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2010
): The area I want to talk about is prevention and it is linked with public confidence. We know we have heard and we would all agree that visibility and good performance are key factors relating to maintaining confidence. Would you agree with me that public confidence is also improved if people believe that the police are working with other agencies and neighbourhood watches to prevent crime? I think, sometimes, we miss out that third factor. At a full Authority meeting in September 2010 you said, 'Sometimes we move into gaps in the market and that, on occasion, has been...

Evidence based review of resource allocation (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 10 November 2010
Could the Commissioner share with me how the protocols have changed recently with regard to the publishing of the images of street prostitutes on the internet?

Housing Devolution (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Nicky Gavron
  • Meeting date: 20 October 2010
You talked about levers and about your optimism about new flexibility and new innovative ways of delivering housing in the future. I have seen somewhere that tax incremental financing (TIF) is at last being considered. Could you shed any light on this? What form of TIF would it be and how would you use it to help social housing?

Housing Devolution (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Steve O'Connell
  • Meeting date: 20 October 2010
On the subject that Mike was pursuing about structure and powers, what thoughts have you got around devolving or increasing the powers of the Assembly around scrutiny in the new world?

Housing Devolution (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 20 October 2010
Last week it was announced that the Office for Tenants and Social Landlords, otherwise known as Tenant Services Authority (TSA), was to be devolved and no longer a public body. I am just wondering in the context of housing devolution in London where all these regulatory powers will be going.

Strategic Leadership (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Steve O'Connell
  • Meeting date: 20 October 2010
Richard, a question for you. Would you not agree, following on from that debate you just had, that inflexible percentage targets are indeed a tired and lazy analysis of the needs of our residents?

Strategic Leadership (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 20 October 2010
Could you, Mr Blakeway, promise me not to carry anything over from the last administration with regard to housing? Could you promise three things really: first of all, could you promise not to disappoint Londoners with oversold targets that are unachievable? Could you promise me not to raise the aspirations of Londoners and then dash those hopes and blame someone else? Could you also promise not to build a home for somebody in housing need but actually deliver a rabbit hutch? So in short, can you assure me that the strategies will be realistic, achievable and honest, which would be...

Vision (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Richard Tracey
  • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
Could I ask particularly about the efficiency in saving lives, which is something I welcome, as the Chairman said. What is the view of the two of you on what the Government should be doing about much more rigorous and widespread use of sprinklers, for example? The other thing I wanted to ask you about is timber framed buildings, which has been another bone of contention in the whole area in recent years. What are your views on that?

Cuts (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Navin Shah
  • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
What efforts have you made, personally, or the Mayor, to engage with the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) to avert a very damaging industrial action over proposed changes to the shift patterns?

Cuts (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: James Cleverly
  • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
Chairman, I do not imagine anyone would pretend that you have had the best of relationships with the FBU but there are a number of people on LFEPA who have much closer links with the unions. Do you know of any attempts that they have made to defend the position that was unanimously voted on to union colleagues, or friends that they may have in the unions, to take some of the heat out of this particular issue and ensure that London is protected without a strike?
