Anti-Semitic Incidents (1) (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
  • Meeting date: 24 February 2010
Thank you, Chair. I have to laugh. I have to remind this house, quite clearly, the mistakes given over by Labour and by the Conservatives. This is on record from the Metropolitan Police Service that, in the last three years, where 12 British National Party members were duly elected in Barking and Dagenham, race related crime - and all aspects of that - have fallen 25%. The fact of the matter is maybe you should be celebrating the fact that, where the British National Party stands, in fact, in pushing people to stand, race related incidents fall, not rise. You...

Blackwall Tunnel (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 24 February 2010
Mr Mayor, according to the Evening Standard, the International Olympic Committee -- Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): Seldom wrong. Valerie Shawcross (AM): -- is saying that you have given your backing to turning off 1,000 sets of traffic lights and that these could be decommissioned permanently as part of a legacy for the Games. Is any of that true?

Oral Update (Supplementary) [10]

  • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Well, Twitter, Twitter, Twitter - I think we are all quite aware of this. It seems that our Chair of the Assembly has been a bit of a rebel-rouser under the influence of alcohol or a party - whatever it may be. So, Mayor, I think you are fully aware that latest figures show eight women every month being raped by drivers of unlicensed cabs. I commend you without question with regards your activity on Know What You're Getting Into. It is highly commendable, as I say. However, I would like to see if you agree with many of the...

Oral Update (Supplementary) [9]

  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
I do not want to over dramatise things and I am aware that you have a track record of not answering questions to the Assembly -- Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): I give you massive answers. John Biggs (AM): Can we clarify something on the Public/Private Partnership (PPP). As you said, tomorrow the Arbiter will come back with his view on the price for the next stage of the contract. Your TfL budget is based on your estimate of the cost of the contract. In the unlikely event that the arbiter agrees with your price then everything is happy -...

Oral Update (Supplementary) [8]

  • Question by: Navin Shah
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Good morning, Mayor. Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): Morning, Navin. Navin Shah (AM): Happy Christmas to you and all the colleagues and members in the gallery. Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): Happy Christmas to you. Navin Shah (AM): Now the hostilities shall resume, though not really. Boris Johnson (Mayor of London): Already? Navin Shah (AM): It is a simple and serious question. You kindly mentioned the question of Jubilee line upgrade. Now, the question is, isn't it actually downgrading of Jubilee line when you talk about their plans for reducing safety inspection of tracks? Now, this is quite seriously not...

Oral Update (Supplementary) [7]

  • Question by: Gareth Bacon MP
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Mayor, to return to the subject of air quality and the EU's decision to fine the UK or to say that we fail. Just for the avoidance of doubt, you refer to the eight years of drift and dither under the previous administration correctly; Murad Qureshi has obviously tried to save the face of the previous administration by pointing out that the LEZ was introduced under them, but of course that did not actually save us from failing, so I think that is important to put on the table. For the avoidance of doubt, the draft Air Quality Strategy, which...

Oral Update (Supplementary) [6]

  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Very simply, I was named in relation to the PPP and I did defend the PPP under the previous administration, contrary to the Mayor. I think history will judge that it was a fine scheme in many regards. The fundamental problem, though, which we need to not retreat from and not lose focus on, rather than playing ya-boo politics on it, is one of under-funding. If we thought that the --

Oral Update (Supplementary) [5]

  • Question by: Kit Malthouse
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Given that the PPP is revealing itself to be one of if not the biggest scandal in recent public finance history, would you support calls for a public inquiry into the decision-making process that led to its creation?

Oral Update (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
If the Arbiter rules differently to London Underground tomorrow, will you guarantee to protect the investment in the Underground and are you prepared to step in and take over Tube Lines' contracts if all else fails?

Oral Update (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Richard Tracey
  • Meeting date: 27 January 2010
Over and above the delays that the whole Tube Lines saga is causing with the Jubilee line, what is also of concern, of course, is what will be the knock-on effect on the Northern line, and indeed the Piccadilly line. I believe the other day, within one TfL meeting, possibly a Board meeting, there was some discussion of the potential delay to the Northern line. Could you be a bit more detailed and tell us actually what was said? How much delay will there be? That is of very great concern to a number of us round this table and...
