Tackling Crime (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 01 November 2018
Jennette Arnold OBE AM: My question is really about the prevention aspect, and I was asking about young people excluded and the evidence that there has been and the number of reports that there have been in the papers. In fact, in April The Telegraph reported “School exclusions fuels rising youth crime”, and then in September 2018 there was an excellent report in The Times, “Exclusion from school drives rising gang crime” and a report there that said the Home Office conducted a report linking exclusions with involvement in drug gangs. It has not produced that report yet, so I...

Tackling Crime (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 01 November 2018
Caroline Pidgeon MBE AM: Central to tackling crime is responding to 999 calls. In July [2018], 1,150 999 calls were diverted to police forces outside of London between the hours of 9.00pm in the evening and 6.00 am in the morning. To start off with I would like to ask Mr Mayor: do you feel it is acceptable for emergency calls in London to be handled by forces outside the capital?

Tackling Crime (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 01 November 2018
Shaun Bailey AM: Good morning, Mayor. Good morning, Commissioner. Mr Mayor, as you will be aware, victim satisfaction is going down. How will you be working with your Victims Commissioner to improve that situation?

Post Brexit Immigration (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Onkar Sahota
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Mr Mayor, I want to return back to the issue of Brexit and the NHS. We were told that we will get £350 million extra for the NHS, and that will not happen. What we were not told was that the nurses, the social care, the carers, and the doctors from the EU would be leaving us. One in ten NHS staff are from the EU. Is there any signs that this Government understands the need that the Brexit deal should preserve the co-recognition qualifications across us and in Europe?

London's Brexit preparations (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Onkar Sahota
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: This is a supplementary question to Assembly Member Duvall’s question. I am particularly concerned about the impact of no deal on medical supplies. The Government has said that the NHS will stockpile six weeks’ of medicines. What guarantees or assurances have you had that we are prepared to do that or we are in a position to be able to do that by the exit date?

Modern day slavery (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
Shaun Bailey AM: Mr Mayor, I just want to pick up on county lines. As you will know in April 2018 the MPS did a very good piece of work and gang leaders from London were prosecuted and we got convictions using modern day slavery laws. Is there anything else that you think that you can do to encourage them to see this as the new norm? Just because I have time could I quickly add another question on to that? As we know county lines from London is a very, very big deal. 39% of all county lines crimes...

Brexit and Affordable Housing (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Fiona Twycross
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
Fiona Twycross AM: The Landlord Association has expressed concern that the Government’s hostile Environment Policy within the context of Brexit will create conditions for a new Windrush-style scandal as EU citizens find themselves unable to access housing in the private-rented sector. Do you share their concerns and how can you support EU citizens worried about whether they will have a place to live or be able to find a place to live after the UK leaves the EU?

Accountability (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Gareth Bacon MP
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
Gareth Bacon AM: Mr Mayor, who was accountable for the decision to approve the now famous Trump balloon?

  • Question by: Susan Hall
  • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
