London Safety (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Susan Hall
  • Meeting date: 16 January 2020
Susan Hall AM: Mr Mayor, coming in on the back of my colleague, who is completely right, staffing costs at City Hall are going up to £65 million. That is double what it was in Boris Johnson’s [MP] last year, double, and quite frankly people out there are far more interested in being kept safe. It is down to you to make sure that the MPS can keep them safe and looking at the figures, they are not being kept safe. You should be looking at where you are spending your money because I would say to you people do...

Borough Needs (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 16 January 2020
Len Duvall AM: Thank you very much. A very quick intervention requiring a very quick answer, Mr Mayor. I was going to say, “Is there an election this year in London?” but the question that I need to put to you: in that report that was earlier indicated by the Assembly Member, that was only a very small proportion of resources allocated by the GLA under your mayoralty to outer London. Is that right? Is it about a third of the spending? I might have that wrong but in my mind I think it is there. There is two‑thirds still...

Policies for fairer fares (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 16 January 2020
Len Duvall AM: Mr Mayor, I am not sure if Members fully understand why we cannot put a fares freeze on those Travelcards. Can you just explain? If I have it right, my understanding is it is not in your control or TfL’s control and if it was in your control we might well consider it in terms of extending the benefits of a fare freeze. Is that right? Is that correct?

London's waste mountain (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Peter Whittle
  • Meeting date: 16 January 2020
Peter Whittle AM: I am very pleased to hear about your efforts to reduce waste and rubbish in London. Can you add to it, please, that EU flag that is still flying outside? You have two weeks to do it in. Come on. Get it down. Put it in the dustbin.

Decisions and challenges (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
Andrew Boff AM: Mr Mayor, can you honestly say that your junk food advertising ban is working?

Decisions and challenges (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Keith Prince
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
Keith Prince AM: Thank you very much, Madam Chairman. On the theme of honesty, in all honesty, Mr Mayor, are you satisfied with the state of TfL’s finances?

Knife Crime (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: David Kurten
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
David Kurten AM: Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, in your answer to Assembly Member Bailey, you made reference to cuts to the grant to the police service in London from the Home Office, but we all know that that has been mitigated by an increase in retained business rates that you have. Why did you not make any mention of that and why have you not used the increase in retained business rates that you have, which you can spend on anything, to maintain police numbers as they were?

General election (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Unmesh Desai
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, in terms of the General Election result, how do you think it will impact upon policing in London over the next year in particular?

General election (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Fiona Twycross
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
Fiona Twycross AM: In the spirit of noting that Assembly Member Prince and you had that approach whereby people of different parties can actually do business, I just thought it was worth remembering your point about some of the things that [The Rt Hon] Boris Johnson [MP, Prime Minister] committed to when he was Mayor. I am quite concerned about the continued increase in food insecurity in London. That clearly affects Londoners and is a potential for policies from Government as a result of the General Election to continue to see an increase. When the current Prime Minister was Mayor...

Brexit and Businesses (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: David Kurten
  • Meeting date: 19 December 2019
David Kurten AM: Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, I know you have been campaigning for a long time for a people’s vote, but the great thing about the General Election last week is that it was a people’s vote and the people voted for Brexit. That is a fantastic thing. Over the last six years, people have voted six times for Brexit. People voted for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in the European elections in 2014. [They voted] in the referendum in 2015. They voted in the election in 2017 for parties that said they were going to support Brexit...
