ULEZ and the Mayor's Manifesto (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 22 June 2023
Len Duvall AM: Sorry, did I seem to miss something; that there was a consultation exercise that you undertook that you have to do statutorily? Is that because the Tories do not like the results of the consultation as well?

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [20]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Andrew Boff AM (Chair): Thank you. We are almost at the end. I am going to take a liberty here. Many of you have turned up anticipating questions which you could answer. Is there any burning issue which you feel we should know about that has not been covered in these questions? It is OK to say no, this is not an appraisal. Dr King.

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [19]

  • Question by: Keith Prince
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Keith Prince AM: Thank you, Chair. Deputy Mayor, good morning. A quick question to back up what my colleague, Assembly Member Best, was saying in regards to Havering in the Superloop. There is going to be no Superloop in Havering and I cannot understand why you would not have one of the outer-lying boroughs in your Orbital Plan. You are going to be deleting two bus routes in Havering, so as a result of the expansion of ULEZ there will be fewer opportunities for my residents to use public transport. We are going to be discussing it at a later...

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [18]

  • Question by: Zack Polanski
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Zack Polanski AM: Thank you, Chair. If I can turn to Caroline Sheridan from Thames Water, Caroline, the design of homes viz the clever devices that can capture rainwater and use that water, whether it is flushing a loo or watering a garden, and that can really reduce water usage, especially at scale. When we come to an updated London Plan and a new Environment Strategy, can the Mayor do more to reduce the mains water that is used in Londoners’ homes?

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [17]

  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Neil Garratt AM: Hello, again. Two quick things, Seb. Firstly, I wanted to thank you for letting us know where the Mayor was this morning, because he himself did not tell us. In fact, the reason that I bring this up in the way that I do is because he does not even tell us yes or no. The staff who organise these meetings send an email to his office saying, “Will you come along?” He does not even give them the courtesy of a reply. It is not your fault and I am not holding you responsible, but this...

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [16]

  • Question by: Siân Berry
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. My questions are going to be to Sir John, I am afraid. I would love to bring in the rest of you, but I do not have time. You have talked before, with my colleagues, about carbon impacts. I assume that your upcoming review is going to look quite seriously at the contribution of investments across different sectors to Government targets of net zero by 2050. My interest is transport and in London we also have our own target of net zero by 2030. I am very interested in the impact of...

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [15]

  • Question by: Krupesh Hirani
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Krupesh Hirani AM: Thank you, Chair. First of all I would like to address a question to Sir John, referring to another John, John Dickie, from John Kavanagh’s organisation [BusinessLDN], has stated that cutting back on HS2 is a false economy and it will lead to increased costs in the future. What are your observations on this?

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [14]

  • Question by: Anne Clarke
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Anne Clarke AM: Thank you, Chair. Good morning to all the panel. Seb, you have spoken a lot today about orbital routes. I am wondering if we have an update on the progress of the West London Orbital and can you give any assurances that the project will be given the go-ahead?

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [13]

  • Question by: Sem Moema
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair, and good morning to all of you. I have a lot of questions for Sir John Armitt, but I want to use the full breadth of the expert panel today. So my question is for the Deputy Mayor, Seb Dance, and it is to ask you: what are the prospects of an expansion of Hall Farm Curve and train and tube connectivity to and from Chingford?

Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [12]

  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Léonie Cooper AM: Thank you very much, Chair. I would like to start with [Sir] John Armitt and go to John Kavanagh, if I may. In your 2016 report, Transport for a World City, it said, “Crossrail 2 should be taken forward as a priority”. You have reiterated that call since. Seven years on, do you still think that Crossrail 2 should be a priority? I am very interested in this because I represent Merton and Wandsworth down in the South West. My colleague here, who is with the Mayor this morning, Joanne McCartney [AM], who represents Enfield and Haringey...
