Connecting people, place and planet: Our Sustainability Charter
At Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), sustainability is not just a priority — it is the foundation for everything we do. Our Sustainability Charter sets out our vision for regeneration that creates lasting social, environmental and economic value for West London.
As one of the capital’s largest Opportunity Areas, Old Oak and Park Royal has a critical role to play in delivering the Mayor’s ambition for a net zero carbon London by 2030. But the Charter goes beyond environmental action: it is about creating a place that empowers communities, improves wellbeing, enhances biodiversity and supports the local economy through inclusive growth.
Our approach is shaped by three core pledges:
- Empowering communities and young people: Supporting inclusion, skills and local leadership.
- Creating a resilient, connected and thriving place: Designing neighbourhoods that are climate-ready, healthy, and integrated with green and blue infrastructure.
- Leading on climate action: Collaborating to deliver net zero carbon, expand renewable energy and support a circular economy.
From co-designed public spaces and local business support, to pioneering low-carbon heat networks and nature-based improvements along the Grand Union Canal, the Charter provides a framework that connects high-level ambition with local impact.
We invite residents, businesses, developers and all partners to join us in building a fairer, greener and more connected future at Old Oak and Park Royal.
