London New Year’s Eve 2025: Information for businesses and residents
If you live or work near London's New Year’s Eve event, access to your home or business may be affected by pedestrian or road restrictions.
These restrictions will be in effect from early afternoon on New Year’s Eve, usually 2pm, until around 6am on New Year's Day.
Sign up for updates to get more information about the restrictions.
If you would like to attend the event, you'll need to buy a ticket. See more about London New Year's Eve 2025.
As soon as the event is finished, we'll start the clean-up process. With the support of Westminster, Lambeth and Southwark Councils, and the City of London, we aim to return event areas to normal by 6am on 1 January.
Pedestrian restrictions
On 31 December, we'll deploy security, stewards and infrastructure to manage the restricted area. Stewards will check zones before closing them. They will ask anyone without a ticket, access wristband or proven right to be there to leave.
It won’t be possible to pass into the restricted area without providing evidence that you have a right to enter that area. You may also need to pass through security checkpoints that carry out bag searches.
Further details will be provided when you sign up for updates.
You can find out by looking at the pedestrian restriction map in the section above. We’ll update this map if there are any changes.
The times that restrictions come into effect for each of these areas may differ, but we will confirm which zone you are in and when restrictions come into effect from when you sign up to the form above. Restrictions come into effect from 2:00pm on New Year's Eve.
On New Year’s Eve, access to the event footprint becomes restricted to vehicles and pedestrians to prepare for the event.
To manage these restrictions, we split the event footprint into event areas. If your property is located within the event footprint and affected by these restrictions, please sign up for more information and we’ll send specific guidance on how to access the area. We may also provide access wristbands to assist with entry into certain event areas.
Zone A: access to these areas may require passing through security checkpoints, which may include bag searches in order to access your business or property.
Zone B: access to these areas may require passing through security checkpoints around the perimeter of the event footprint where cordons have been placed to assist us with the management of tickets holders for the event.
Zone C: generally speaking, access to these areas is unrestricted. However, in the event we’re required to implement crowd management plans to assist with the management of ticket holders for the event, we may be required to restrict access to these areas temporarily to reduce the risk of overcrowding.
All residents living within a Restricted Event Area will be able to request access wristbands for themselves and their guests.
Travel in London on NYE will likely be busier than usual, and routes to your property may be affected.
So that you can access your property once restrictions are in place, we'll provide you with information on how to access the Restricted Event Area and the recommended route to your property.
If your property is affected by these restrictions, please sign up for more information and we’ll send specific guidance on how to access the area.
Access wristbands are not tickets to the event and are only provided to assist with access to your business or property once restrictions are in place. If you wish to attend the event, you can find more information on when tickets are on sale and how to buy them.
All businesses open on New Year’s Eve within a Restricted Event Area – like offices, pubs, restaurants, theatres and hotels – will be able to request access wristbands for their staff and guests.

If you live or work outside the Restricted Event Area you won’t need an access wristband to get to your home or business. However, you should be aware that transit through central London will be more difficult than usual, and restrictions may be in place in some areas. You might need to change travel plans or use alternative routes.

Remember, you can’t get into ticketed areas without a ticket. If you wish to attend the event, see more information on when tickets are on sale and how to buy them.
Tickets for the Mayor’s New Year’s Eve fireworks sell out quickly but, in London, there are a thousand ways to celebrate. Find out what’s on offer and plan your night.
Access wristbands are not tickets, and will not give you entry to the event. They are only provided to assist with access to your business or property if it is within a restricted event area. Access wristbands are non-transferable and may be invalidated if they are misused or misappropriated.
If you don’t have an access wristband and can’t provide legal evidence of your right to access a particular area, you may not be permitted into restricted event areas.
Please arrange in advance to get wristbands for yourself, your staff (if you're a business) and your guests to assist with access to your property on New Year’s Eve.
You can do this by signing up for more information.
Vehicle restrictions
Vehicles, including buses, coaches, cars, vans, trucks and bikes, will not be allowed in the restricted event or surrounding areas, and must be parked outside the closed areas. All vehicle parking will be suspended within the event area.
On 27 – 30 December and 1 – 3 January:
In order to prepare for the event, localised road closures will be required in the days leading up to the event for the installation of event infrastructure. To mitigate the impact to businesses and residents we plan to conduct these works overnight and every effort will be made to minimise any noise or disturbance during the works. See below for the details of closures during this time.
On 31 December:
In conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), vehicle access will be restricted from 2:00pm on 31 December until around 6:00am on 1 January. However, contingency plans are in place to permit closures from 12:00pm in the yellow and red areas. See the map below for more information.
Some roads in central London will stay closed for the London Parade 2026. Find out more about the London Parade 2026.
Please note that we cannot provide passes for vehicles to enter the road closures once they are in place. Plan your travel accordingly, and allow extra time for your journey.

Whether you're a business or a resident, access for deliveries or collections to restricted event areas will not be possible from when the roads close in the early afternoon on New Year’s Eve until the following morning.
We strongly recommend that you notify any deliveries or collections of the restrictions and the times when they will be enforced. Alternatively, arrange deliveries or collections for a different day. Take care not to leave items outside of your property for collection before or during road closures. This includes waste which, if not collected before the closures are enforced, should be stored within the property until collection can be arranged.
As soon as the event is finished, we will clear the event area in order to start the clean-up process. With the support of Westminster, Lambeth and Southwark Councils and the City of London, we aim to have these areas returned to normal by 6:00am on 1 January 2026.
Security measures
To ensure the safety and security of everyone, we use security and stewarding staff, and we work closely with the Metropolitan Police to safely manage the event.
We operate a bag restriction policy at the event. This means no backpacks or suitcases will be allowed into Zone A. If you are located within Zone B you may also be subject to bag searches.
As a resident, staff member, or guest of a resident or business requiring access to a property within Zone A, large bags, backpacks, and suitcases will be allowed provided you show a valid access wristband to event stewards on entry. However, please try to avoid bringing oversized bags wherever possible, as all bags must be searched on entry to event areas and this may delay your arrival.
CCTV cameras will be in operation within and around the ticketed viewing areas. The cameras are used by a trained operator and assist our event production company, Identity, to monitor crowd flow throughout the event.
