About this event

The Mayor of London’s free, annual festival returns to Trafalgar Square to mark Eid al-Adha and bring Londoners together in celebration.  

Delivered in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group the event is a true celebration of the city’s diversity and shared values. 

A full rundown of the programme, activities, caterers and stalls will be released soon. 

It’s a popular event, so please expect queues. Bag searches will take place on entry, so avoid bringing large bags.

Meet the Community Advisory Group

Adnaan Shakur

Adnaan is a London-based sustainability consultant and a co-host for Ramadan Tent Project, deeply engrained in building community for South Asians and Muslims in London. He is an enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly approach to engaging and working with others in large teams to deliver successful events.

Aisha Abubakar

Aisha Abubakar is a student, former scientist, and former Welfare Officer for the Nigerian Muslim Forum (NMF), as well as a member of the NMF Orphans Committee. She is the founder of the J.O.Y. Project (Job Opportunities for You), which connects local communities with recruitment opportunities. Aisha is also a member of the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) and an organiser of various other community projects.

Ashraf Moallim

Ashraf has worked in all aspects of television production as both a producer and head of production. Work in broadcast and independent projects has taken Ashraf to several African countries and across Europe. Her work in TV, video and new media has always been informed by a passionate belief that storytelling can be a powerful impetus for common good and unity.

Ashraf has mentored young creatives, teaching workshops across the country and now specialises in the development of branding and creative content production for international and faith-based communities and organisations. Visit Ashraf's LinkedIn page.

Azmat Suleman

Ibrahim Ferullo

Ibrahim is an experienced finance and strategy professional currently holding the role of Head of Finance at StuRents. Beyond professional commitments, he finds immense fulfilment in giving back through Mentyoo, an initiative he co-founded and actively manage.

Through his career, Ibrahim discovered a deep-seated passion for making a meaningful impact in all that he engages with. His finance and social impact journey has been driven by this passion for positive change. With expertise in strategic financial planning, commercial finance, and process optimisation, he consistently seeks opportunities to implement changes that drive growth and operational efficiency.

Najib Ahmed

Najib works at the London Assembly’s Secretariat, where he supports Assembly Members in their scrutiny of the Mayor of London. Beyond his day job, Najib is deeply passionate about community engagement strategies, particularly focusing on harder-to-reach communities in London. 

Rukhsana Yaqoob

Rukhsana is an independent Education Consultant and Leadership Coach who taught mainly in Waltham Forest schools, then nationally to raise the attainment of underachieving Muslim pupils.

As a national advisor, school governor, non-executive director and President of the Muslim Teachers’ Association, Rukhsana leads with passion, commitment and pragmatism. She is co-chair of Nisa-Nashim teachers’ group for Muslim and Jewish women, a school governor, on the Waltham Forest SACRE, part of Consortium for Muslim Professionals and President of the Muslim Teachers Association. Suraya Miah

Suraya is a dedicated and compassionate newly qualified social worker, Suraya specialises within a range of disciplines including youth activism, research, and community outreach within Camden and on a pan-London level. She represents a number of authority and charitable organisations, working to support a range of different communities.

Suraya is particularly interested in exploring her own heritage and background as a South Asian Muslim living in London and aspires to do this in a space that celebrates such diverse cultures. Find out more on Suraya's LinkedIn page.

TJ Hanif

TJ is a fashion designer and creative dedicated to making a difference in her community. Outside of fashion, TJ gives back to the community by participating at local schools and planning events that inspire growth and unity. She also participates in art curation for the exposure of talented local artists and to give them the limelight they rightfully deserve. On top of that, she runs workshops that teach groups to look at creative ways of tackling the climate crisis and lowering carbon footprints, together with mindfulness art workshops amongst others, for all ages. 

Being a trustee and co-founder of a now-28-year-old charity, TJ has pursued trying to assist members of the public through the minefield of civil litigation. It is the love of creativity and a strong will to make a difference in the lives of others that emboldens her journey.

We will do our best to make sure you feel welcome and enjoy our event. Our event staff and volunteers are here to help with any questions you might have. 

When you arrive, our stewards and Team London volunteers will greet you. Our Team London volunteers will be wearing purple high-visibility jackets and are ready to answer any questions. There will also be clear signs to help guide you around the event. Please note, we will conduct a bag search at the entrance for everyone attending. 

The event has a level access entrance, and it is wheelchair accessible.  All paths are accessible for wheelchair users and there is a lift that connects the North Terrace to the Main Square. Stewards will be there to help you find your way. Assistance dogs are welcome too. 

The festival can get busy. If being in crowds is difficult for you, you can use our accessible viewing area. It is located on the north terrace of Trafalgar Square. This area has hearing loop facilities for the performances on the main stage, and chairs are available for companions and anyone who needs to sit. 

All shows with speech on the main stage will have a British Sign Language interpreter. You can see this on the screen on the right side of the main stage. 

The event may be loud at times due to music and performances. If you need ear defenders, you can ask for them at our information point or speak to a volunteer for help. 

The event is relaxed. You can join or leave at any time and move around as you like. You do not need to be quiet. 

In addition to toilets, we will also have Mobiloo accessible toilet at the event. This toilet has a hoist and a changing table. If you need to use the hoist, please bring your own sling for safety and convenience. You can find more information on Mobiloo’s website: www.mobiloo.org.uk

Trafalgar Square is easy to reach by public transport, including buses, the Tube, and national rail services. 

The nearest Underground station with step-free access from platform to street level is Westminster Station, which is served by the Jubilee, District, and Circle lines. From Westminster Station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Trafalgar Square. 

Charing Cross Underground Station is the closest Tube station and is served by the Northern and Bakerloo lines. However, please note that this station does not have step-free access. 

Bus routes that stop close to Trafalgar Square include: 

Routes 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 15, 23, 87, 88, 91, 139, and 176, with most buses having wheelchair access. 

For accessible travel options, including step-free routes and Dial-A-Ride services, you can visit the Transport for London (TfL) website for maps and to plan your journey: tfl.gov.uk

National Rail 

The nearest railway station is Charing Cross. It is 325 metres away, approximately 3 minutes’ walk. Charing Cross rail station offers step-free access and a step-free route to Trafalgar Square. 

Accessible parking 

The surrounding area on Trafalgar Square can get very busy on the day of the event, so we recommend you take public transport if you're visiting the event. If you’re unable to take public transport for accessibility reasons, accessible parking is available near Trafalgar Square. 

There are Blue Badge parking spaces on St Martin’s Street, located next to the National Gallery. Please be aware that these spaces are around 250 metres from the National Gallery. There are three designated Blue Badge parking bays available here. 

For more information on parking, you can contact the Westminster Parking Information Service on 020 7823 4567. The helpline is open Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 8pm. To find other blue badge parking bays nearby, you can find disabled Blue Badge bays on the City of Westminster’s website using the postcode WC2N 5DN.
