Assembly to scrutinise Mayor over draft Met Estates Strategy
The Mayor of London is set to be questioned by Members of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee over the handling of the draft Met Estates Strategy and related matters.
The Committee used its statutory powers to issue a summons notice requiring the Mayor, in his capacity as occupant of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), and the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, to attend a meeting to answer questions related to why the Committee has been excluded from receiving a copy of the Met’s draft Estates Strategy or been provided with an opportunity to comment on its content as part of the Committee’s oversight and scrutiny role.
This meeting was due to take place today at 1pm or the rise of Mayor’s Question Time. However, the Mayor informed the Committee that he would not be available to attend.
An extraordinary meeting has now been scheduled for tomorrow¸ where Members will scrutinise the Mayor around the handling of the draft Met Estates Strategy and related matters.
Guest include:
- Sir Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and Occupant of MOPAC
- Kaya Comer-Schwartz, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime
The meeting will take place on Friday 19 December 2025 at 3pm, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
