Response to the Independent Culture Review (3)

Specific funding has been allocated to support cultural change at London Fire Brigade (LFB). This includes funding for a programme director and team to ensure the changes are effectively managed and implemented, an external complaints investigation service, increased maternity pay, improvements to wellbeing services and increased staff to conduct vetting. 

LFB’s draft Budget Submission for 2024-25, which was published in November 2023 (LFC-23-107y), sets out proposed additional funding relating to the culture change programme for 2024-25 (£2.85 million), 2025-26 (£3.18 million), and 2026-27 (£1.59 million) in Appendix 6 (under the heading of ‘Programme 5’). Some projects within Programme 5 that are due to be delivered in future years have not yet been fully costed. As a result, future investment in culture change is expected to be higher than these initial estimates and this will be set out in future budget submissions. 

The figures above will be updated in LFB’s final Budget for 2024-25 in March and LFB will also take this opportunity to set out how its wider resources are supporting this improvement programme.
