London’s infrastructure is vitally important for the city and its population, covering everything from transport, housing and environment, to energy, waste and water.
The National Infrastructure Commission, which provides the government with expert advice on major long-term infrastructure challenges, is due to publish its second National Infrastructure Assessment in autumn 2023.
As a growing city, what are London’s most pressing infrastructure needs? How has the pandemic impacted this? And how much progress is being made to reach net zero?
The full London Assembly will meet to discuss what London’s infrastructure priorities should be and what areas the Greater London Authority (GLA) is focusing on.
The guests are:
- Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor for Transport
- Phil Graham, Executive Director of Good Growth, GLA
- Sir John Armitt, Chair, National Infrastructure Commission
- Charlotte Wood, London Area Director, Environment Agency
- Dr Stephen King, Head of Business and Enterprise, London Councils
- Ben Lucas, Founding Director, Metro Dynamics
- Caroline Sheridan, Engineering and Asset Director, Thames Water
- John Kavanagh, Programme Director, Infrastructure, BusinessLDN
Following the Q&A session a number of motions will be debated.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 8 June from 10am, in The Chamber, at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
