The Mayor will appear before the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee tomorrow after being summonsed for a second time over the resignation of Dame Cressida Dick.
In March 2022, former Home Secretary Priti Patel MP commissioned former HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary Sir Tom Winsor to conduct a review of the events surrounding the departure of the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner.
His report suggested that the Mayor had acted outside of the established statutory procedure, contrary to the wider legislative scheme and not in accordance with due process.
Last month, Sadiq Khan, in his capacity as the occupant of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), appeared before the Committee in response to a first summons to answer questions about his actions and the Winsor report.
The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee then used its statutory powers to issue a second summons notice, requiring the Mayor to answer further questions about his actions in relation to the resignation of Dame Cressida.
The guests are:
- Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and occupant of MOPAC
- Sir Tom Winsor, former HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 13 December 2022 from 10am, in The Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
