 
  London Assembly to mark 25th Anniversary year
- On May 12th, 2000, the London Assembly held its first ever meeting.
- The inaugural Annual Meeting took place at the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham St.
- The first Chair of the London Assembly was the writer and broadcaster Trevor Philips OBE.
- Len Duvall OBE AM, is the longest serving Assembly Member, having been elected at the very first London Assembly elections.
On Tuesday, the London Assembly will hold its Annual Meeting – which will signal the start of its 25th Anniversary year commemorations.
To mark the occasion, the meeting will open with a speech from the Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee, and former Assembly Member, Florence Eshalomi MP. The meeting will be closed with recollections from Ross Lydall, City Hall Editor of the Standard.
During the meeting, the London Assembly will elect a new Chair and Deputy Chair.
Assembly Members will also agree the establishment and membership of a range of Committees, to lead investigations into issues including policing, health, housing, transport and the Mayor’s Budget.
The meeting will take place in the Chamber at City Hall on Tuesday, 6 May 2025 at 10am.
