How will Londoners benefit from the proposed London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) boundary changes?
The LLDC was formed as a Mayoral Development Corporation to manage the physical legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games. Along with managing Olympic Park venues, it is responsible for developing the area as a community where people live and work.
The Mayor may alter the boundaries of a Mayoral Development Area to exclude any area of land, but must consult the London Assembly before doing so.
The LLDC is currently consulting on proposals that the area covered by the LLDC should be reduced on 1 December 2024 to include only the core part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park estate in which LLDC owns, manages or operates land.
This is based on the anticipated removal of LLDC’s town planning functions, to be returned to the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
The full London Assembly will meet tomorrow to discuss the LLDC boundary consultation and consider its response. The guests are:
- Lyn Garner, Chief Executive, LLDC
- Dr Paul Brickell, Transition Sponsor, LLDC
The meeting will take place on Thursday 18 May from 2pm, in The Chamber, at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
