Strengthening MOPAC's oversight of Met Police
Police and Crime Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
Under the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, the core remit of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is to “secure the maintenance of the Metropolitan Police Force”. Baroness Louise Casey’s review suggested that a “dysfunctional relationship has developed” between MOPAC and the Met.
The Police and Crime Committee will discuss MOPAC’s role and its effectiveness in its oversight of the Met, following the findings of the Baroness Casey review.

Assessing the impact of the Mayor's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report

For several years, the Mayor – and his predecessors – have published Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategies, setting out the GLA’s commitment to improve equality impact in London. The Mayor’s current EDI Strategy was published in 2018.
The GLA Oversight Committee will meet to assess the impact of the Mayor’s 2018-22 EDI Strategy, particularly focusing on the period April 2020 to March 2022.

Trauma-informed approaches to youth violence

Young people who experience trauma are significantly more likely to become serious, violent, and chronic juvenile offenders. Trauma-informed approaches realise the effects that trauma can have, recognise the signs and symptoms of trauma, and aim to prevent re-traumatisation.
The Health Committee will consider how trauma-informed approaches are being used by London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).
