The London Assembly is calling for a permanent statue of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in London.
The Assembly believes that the location should be decided in consultation with the Royal Family.
Nick Rogers AM, who proposed the motion, said:
“Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a source of strength and stability through this country’s most difficult times and will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to duty and her loyal service to others.
“Londoners turned out in their thousands to pay their respects as The Queen lay in state last year and will rightly expect the city to host lasting and meaningful tributes to her memory.
“In this coronation year, I welcome the London Assembly’s approval of my motion calling for a permanent statue of Her Late Majesty to honour her for generations to come.”
