Assembly to debate Mayor’s draft 2026-27 budget
- The Mayor’s 2026-27 First Draft Consolidated Budget includes an additional £67 million funding compared to the December 2026-27 Consultation Budget.1
- Funding gaps in 2026-27 of £20 million for Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), £19 million for GLA:Mayor, £12 million for London Fire Commissioner (LFC) and £3 million for Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) in the December Consultation Budget have all been eliminated in the Consolidated Budget.2
- TfL will receive £90 million in 2026-27 from the Department for Transport (DfT) to compensate it for the lost revenue from the Government’s freeze of rail fares.
- The cost of the Mayor’s Universal Free School Meals programme been reduced by £51 million due to the extension to the Government’s own free school meals policy that was announced in June 2025. This has reduced funding required from GLA reserves.
Tomorrow, London Assembly Members will consider and debate the Mayor’s Draft Consolidated budget for 2026-27 and any amendments, as part of the statutory budget process.
