Many digital employers are increasingly seeking talent that is not only skilled but also ready to be deployed in real work environments immediately.
How the Hub helped
The hub developed a new training course, Introduction to IT and Network Support, which provides key knowledge that is useful to candidates who are looking to enter the IT industry. The course was developed following meetings and discussions with employers who hire for IT support roles in order to gain insights into their requirements and adapt the training to sectoral needs.
This directly addresses the sector's need for skilled IT network support professionals, creating a pipeline of qualified candidates who meet employers' requirements for talent ready to work immediately.
Outcomes
This collaboration shows the value of education, enhancing skills and community engagement. We not only improved the knowledge and understanding of the residents but demonstrated the positive impact that thoughtful collaboration can have on local lives.
Sixteen learners have enrolled and completed the course, gaining essential green skills knowledge and understanding of retrofitting. Six learners have gone on to meaningful destination outcomes. Three learners went on to complete Level 2 in Retrofit and four learners went into employment.
