Skills Academies Hubs: Success stories
Skills Academies Hubs are part of the Mayor's Skills Academies programme. They support Londoners into good work in the green economy, creative industries, digital, health and social care, and hospitality sectors.
I was very impressed by the learners' journey through the Hospitality hub, and developing the correct skill set that we need in our hotels.

MSA Interim Evaluation
The Mayor’s Skills Academies (MSA) programme has been supporting collaboration between employers, training providers and other sector stakeholders for over three years. It is now in its final year of delivery.
In 2024, an interim evaluation was undertaken by ICF which analysed delivery up to Q1 2024/25. The findings showed positive progress made against the programme aims, as well as highlighting areas for improvement.
Highlights from the evaluation include:
- Employers were more actively engaged in responding to sector skills gaps, with increased awareness of hub activities and industry-relevant training offers.
- Hubs were performing well against the target for learners undertaking new training as a result of hub activity, in part due to new training being developed and increased promotion of courses.
- Londoners were felt to have a better understanding of priority sectors as well as access to a more holistic support offer.
The interim evaluation also made some recommendations, the majority of which have been taken forward either through existing programme delivery or designed into future activity. A final evaluation is now underway and will be completed in the first quarter of 2026/27.
