How are London agencies working together to identify and protect vulnerable children and young people at risk of child sexual exploitation?
Following on from the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee’s investigation, Keeping London’s children safe,[2] the Committee will further examine London’s approach to safeguarding children. In particular, the meeting will look at the lessons that can be learned from failures in tackling child sexual abuse in Rotherham.
The Committee will question its guests about:
Whether there are enough officers dedicated to protecting children from child sexual exploitation.
The impact of child sexual exploitation on resources.
How councils identify children and young people of concern.
What more the Met and MOPAC could do to improve the approach to child sexual exploitation on a local and regional level in London.
In preparation for the meeting, the Committee wrote to all Directors of Children’s Services in London.
