In response to the Transport for London’s announcement that Forest Gate, Maryland and Manor Park stations are all now providing step-free access, local London Assembly Member, Unmesh Desai AM, said:
“I’m delighted to see that work on these stations as part of the Mayor’s £200 million accessibility funding programme has now been completed.
“From what I have heard through my work in the constituency and the correspondence I have received from residents, these upgrades will be of huge significance for those living nearby Maryland, Manor Park and Forest Gate stations.
“I appreciate that it can be frustrating for residents whilst improvement work is being undertaken, but ultimately this work is essential if London is to be open and accessible for all.
“I will be working closely with TfL to ensure that east London’s transport infrastructure continues to improve and that all communities have their transport concerns listened to.”
