In response to Transport for London’s (TfL) announcement that Barking & Dagenham, City of London, Newham and Tower Hamlets have each received a share of £3.5 million to boost the number of cycle spaces across the borough, local London Assembly Member, Unmesh Desai AM, said:

“It’s really great that more local people are now choosing to cycle as part of their daily commute.

“We need the right infrastructure in place to accommodate this growing demand so it’s fantastic that TfL are investing in cycle spaces in our borough.

“Along with better cycle routes, this will make it easier and safer for Londoners to leave their cars at home and get on their bikes.

“It will also help to go towards clamping down on the capital’s toxic air which we know contributes towards the deaths of approximately 10,000 Londoners every year”.
