In response to the publication of HMICFRS’ ‘Operation Lynemouth’ report concerning the Metropolitan Police investigation into electoral fraud in Tower Hamlets, local London Assembly Member, Unmesh Desai AM, said:
“I welcome the publication of this report and some of the conclusions made by this investigation, which took place following pressure from myself and colleagues at City Hall.
“Going forward from today, we need to learn from the errors made during the original probe. Due to these failings, it has been sad to see the process of restoring trust in local democracy needlessly delayed.
“I look forward to seeing the conclusions of both of the remaining investigations being undertaken by the Met and the City of London police”.
