Does private sponsorship improve public transport?

Does private sponsorship of public transport schemes work for travellers and deliver value for money to the taxpayer?

The Budget & Performance Committee will continue its investigation [1] into the value for money of sponsored transport schemes tomorrow.

The Committee will discuss Transport for London's (TfL) plans for the next sponsor of the cycle hire scheme, how TfL can maximise other sponsorship opportunities and TfL's contribution to the part privately-funded Garden Bridge

The following guests will be questioned at the meeting:

  • Graeme Craig, Director of Commercial Development, TfL;
  • Richard de Cani, Director of Strategy and Policy, Tfl;
  • Richard Busby, Chief Executive Officer, BDS Sponsorship; and
  • Jackie Fast, Managing Director, Slingshot Sponsorship.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 3 July from 10am in Committee Room 4 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA). Media and members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.
