In response to the news that Hammersmith will receive a share of £6 million from the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund to deliver the Hammersmith Zero Emissions Network, Londonwide Assembly Member, Tom Copley AM, said:
“This vital funding will help to bolster the efforts currently being undertaken to tackle toxic air in our capital by supporting businesses to make the switch to either zero or low emissions vehicles and upgrade their fleets.
“For too long, Londoners have been left exposed to dangerous levels of air pollution, contributing to almost 10,000 premature deaths in the capital each year, causing the stunting of children’s lung development and other serious health problems.
“The delivery of the Hammersmith Zero Emissions Network comes alongside the measures being taken at City Hall to facilitate the transition to electric taxis and cleaner buses across London”.
