
The Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Taskforce has so far:
- made 1,361 arrests
- recovered 40 firearms
- recovered 340 knives
- removed nearly 258 offensive weapons
On 17 September, 122 additional officers were added to the Taskforce and will be in place for three months. This takes the number of officers in the taskforce to 272.
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will question the Deputy Commissioner for the Met and MOPAC about resourcing arrangements for the Taskforce and what will happen when the three months is up.
Questions will also include the public health approach to violence, women in the criminal justice system and anti-social behaviour. The guests are:
