Following the vote to leave the European Union (EU), the future of the UK’s access to EU funding became uncertain.
The Greater London Authority (GLA) currently receives a significant level of funding from the EU for a range of purposes, and will need to make plans to adapt to any changes in these arrangements.
- How effective is EU funding in London, and how is success measured?
- Have any projects been paused or cancelled because of the referendum outcome?
- How are organisations changing their future activities or plans to reflect the referendum result?
- Does EU exit promote the case for further fiscal devolution to London?
Tomorrow the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will discuss possible implications of the EU exit decision on EU funding, both for the GLA Group and from the wider perspective of London as a whole. It will examine the current funding position, assess any changes between now and the official exit from the EU and discuss the post-EU position.
The Committee will hear from the following guests:
- Alex Conway, European Programmes Director, GLA
- John Spindler, Chief Executive, Capital Enterprises
- Naomi Weir, Deputy Director, Campaign for Science and Engineering
- Madeleine Williams, Director, Access Europe Network and Observer on the London LEP ESIF Committee
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 29 September from 10.00am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.
