London’s housing affordability pressures are well established.
Many Londoners spend a significant proportion of their income on housing. This impacts their overall financial wellbeing, by hindering their ability to save for home ownership or leaving them without an adequate income for other necessities.
Tomorrow, in the first of two meetings, the Housing Committee will:
- Review the extent to which changes in housing security are a source of concern for the financial wellbeing of Londoners.
- Examine how the pandemic has changed Londoners’ experience of housing security.
- Consider the impact of housing security on different demographics and occupations in London, such as healthcare workers, older Londoners and single parent families.
The guests are:
- Christine Whitehead, Professor of Housing Economics, London School of Economics and Political Science
- Baroness Alicia Kennedy, Director, Generation Rent
- Susie Dye, Grants Manager, Trust for London
- Sian Williams, Director of External Policy, Toynbee Hall
- Mark Farmer, Operational Manager, Royal College of Nursing
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 24 November 2021 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend – numbers may be limited.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube
