Following a leave vote in the European Referendum, the UK has entered an immediate period of volatility and uncertainty. The London Assembly Economy Committee will tomorrow hear from the newly appointed Deputy Mayor for Business, Rajesh Agrawal, and discuss the impact of Brexit on London’s economy with a range of experts. Key questions will include:
- Can London’s economy withstand the shock of a UK exit from the European Union?
- Is membership of the Single Market crucial to the continued success of London’s economy?
- What opportunities could trading outside of the Single Market bring?
- Should more financial powers be devolved to London?
- What can the Mayor do to reassure Londoners and businesses?
- What should the Mayor lobby for to ensure London’s growth and its global economic status?
The meeting will discuss the impact of Brexit on London’s financial markets, the impact of an exit from the Single Market and the Mayor’s role in EU exit negotiations. The following guests will be questioned:
