This meeting took place on 10 December 2015. Read the transcript here.
The Government is phasing out Transport for London’s (TfL) revenue grant entirely, reducing it to zero by 2018/19.
In total, TfL's grant funding from the Department for Transport has been reduced by £2.8bn over the course of TfL's Business Plan, from 2015/16 to 2020/21.
The Chancellor indicated that TfL could replace this funding “through further efficiency savings by TfL, or through generating additional income from the 5,700 acres of land TfL owns in London.”
The London Assembly Transport Committee wants to know how the recent Spending Review will affect Transport for London’s ability to function.
- How will TfL cope with the withdrawal of its revenue grant?
- What will be the impact on services and TfL investments?
- To what extent can TfL generate more commercial income from its land holdings, above what is already planned?
- When will the Government approve Crossrail 2?
Tomorrow the Committee will hear from:
- Mike Brown - Commissioner, TfL
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 10 December from 10:00am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
