Shared ownership is marketed as an affordable way for Londoners to own a home.
However, is this the case and are shared owners given the right information at the point of purchase? Can more be done to ensure they are given the right levels of support and guidance?
Are the Mayor of London’s shared ownership homes truly affordable and are they a viable route to full home ownership?
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Housing Committee will hold a meeting on shared ownership and issues surrounding it, such as service charges, lease extensions, staircasing, control over the property and issues with selling on.
The guests are:
- Steve Moseley, Group Director of Governance, Strategy and Communications, L&Q
- Reuben Young, Director, PricedOut
- Peter Apps, Deputy Editor, Inside Housing
- Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for Investing in Communities, Camden Council
- Dr Alison Wallace, Research Fellow, University of York
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 21 January 2020 at 10:00am in The Chamber, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or YouTube
