The key targets of the Mayor’s Draft Environment Strategy are:
- Cleanest air of any major world city, aiming for World Health Organisation standards by 2020
- 'National Park City’, with half of London green by 2050
- Zero net carbon emissions by 2050
- No biodegradable or recyclable waste to landfill by 2026, and 65 per cent recycling by 2030
Is the strategy ambitious enough?
Will it deliver sufficient carbon reductions?
How will the recycling goals be achieved?
When will toxic emissions from non-transport sources fall?
Is there a timetable for improving air quality?
The London Assembly will hold a question and answer session on the Mayor’s Draft Environment Strategy on Monday.
The Assembly will then formally consider the Strategy. The guests are:
- Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London
- Shirley Rodriguez, Deputy Mayor for Environment & Energy
The meeting will take place on Monday, 21 May from 2:00pm in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend
