According to the British Retail Consortium (BRC), 2019 was the worst year on record for retail sales. Total retail sales for 2019 decreased by 0.1%, compared with 1.2% growth in 2018 [1].
For Londoners, high streets are integral to everyday life with half of London’s jobs spread across 600 of London’s 1,204 high streets. So, what is the Mayor doing to ensure that London’s high streets remain an integral part of London’s community?
The London Assembly Economy Committee will tomorrow examine the Mayor’s policies to support high streets across the capital.
The guests are:
- Matthew Jaffa, Senior External Affairs Manager (London), Federation of Small Businesses
- Dominic Curran, Policy Advisor, British Retail Consortium
- Robin Osterley, CEO, Charity Retail Association
- Helen Clark Bell, CEO, Love Wimbledon
- Patrick Dubeck, Head of Regeneration, GLA
The meeting will take place on Tuesday 14 January 2020 at 10.00am in The Chamber, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or on our YouTube channel.
