Responding to the publication of the Metropolitan Police’s violence against women and girls (VAWG) action plan, Shaun Bailey AM, Chairman of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee, said:
“It is important that the Metropolitan Police listens to and learns from the conversation now taking place on tackling violence against women and girls.
“The Committee welcomes the publication of the action plan as being a step in the right direction in rebuilding the trust of the public. This trust is vital in giving women and girls the confidence to report these crimes to the police.
“We urge all Londoners to respond to the action plan with their views. This will ensure that what is implemented by the Met is what our city’s communities want to see from our police force.
“The Committee will consider the action plan in detail and continue to monitor the efforts of the Metropolitan Police and the Mayor in tackling the horrific harassment, abuse and violence women and girls face in our city.”
