Pre-election period to begin at City Hall

At 9am on Monday, March 21st, the official pre-election period begins at City Hall. The Notice of Election is published at that time, for the Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on May 5th 2016.

This means there will be no non-essential media activity from the London Assembly External Relations team, for a total of six weeks, as specific restrictions on communications are in place.

During this period, the London Assembly External Relations team will take up the role of London Elects Media Relations team.

Pre-election rules end at 10pm on Thursday May 5. The first London Assembly meeting after the election is 10:00am, Friday 13 May – the Annual Meeting - when a new Chair of the Assembly is elected, along with new Chairs of Committees.

After that, with a new line-up, it’s back to business. 25 Assembly Members publicly holding the new Mayor to account by examining his/her decisions and actions to ensure he/she delivers on their promises to Londoners.
