Created on
21 June 2022

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched investigations into many recent high-profile incidents involving Metropolitan Police officers, including the strip-search of a 15-year-old black schoolgirl known as Child Q.

Does the police complaints system improve public confidence in the Met? And what are the recent successes and failures of IOPC investigations into the force?

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet tomorrow to consider this by questioning representatives from the IOPC, following its late withdrawal from a meeting on the topic earlier this month.

The Committee will also examine how the voluntary sector and community groups work with the London Probation Service and Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime to reduce reoffending.

  • Ana Caldeira, Senior Operations Manager, Catch22
  • Kate Paradine, CEO, Women in Prison
  • Niki Scordi, CEO, Advance

  • Samantha Cowie, Head of Criminal Justice, St Mungo’s
