The Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Sir Craig Mackey has announced his intention to retire from policing in December after more than 34 years of service.
Steve O’Connell AM, Chairman of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee said:
“The people of London owe Sir Craig a great deal of thanks for his hard work and dedication. It is difficult to overstate the contribution that he has made to Londoners’ safety.
“He has always carried out his duties with good grace and has been a robust and helpful colleague.
“When he retires later this year, he will have been the longest serving Deputy Commissioner since the 1950s.
“We wish him a happy retirement and all the best for the future.”
