London’s recovery from COVID-19

London Assembly MQT, May 2016
Created on
03 March 2021

On Monday, 22 February 2021, the Prime Minister announced his plans for the reopening of businesses over the coming months.

Under the Prime Minister’s plans, non-essential retail, hairdressers, museums, gyms, and outdoor hospitality could reopen on 12 April 2021 in England if the levels of COVID-19 infections are low, vaccine rates are high and and there’s no threat of new variants of the virus.

With the focus now on how the UK recovers from the pandemic, the London Assembly is holding a Q&A session tomorrow on the main challenges facing London’s COVID-19 recovery.

The guests are:

  • Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor, Planning, Regeneration and Skills, GLA
  • Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor, Culture and the Creative Industries GLA
  • Councillor Danny Thorpe, London Councils Executive Member for Business, Europe and Good Growth
  • Matthew Jaffa, Senior External Affairs Manager (London), Federation of Small Businesses

Following the discussion, London Assembly Members will debate these motions.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 4 March 2021 from 10 AM. In line with Government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
