London’s housing market was seriously impacted by COVID-19, but we are seeing a recovery since estate agents have opened up and house sales can resume.
More people are spending most of their time confined to their homes, so will this dramatic shift lead to an exodus of Londoners?
At the same time, housing development has been significantly slowed by the pandemic. How can housebuilding recover, and would investment in housing help boost the economy as a whole?
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Housing Committee will hold a meeting to discuss the short and long-term impacts of COVID-19 on home ownership, the private rented sector, social and affordable housing and the supply of housing in London.
The guests are:
- Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development
- Lawrence Bowles, Director, Residential Research, Savills
- Henry Pryor, Buying Agent, Professional Negotiator and Housing Market Commentator
- Christine Whitehead, Professor Emeritus in Housing Economics, London School of Economics
- Rob Wall, Head of Policy, National Housing Federation
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 5 August 2020 at 11:00am.
In line with Government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
Media and members of the public can watch the meeting live here.
