This meeting took place on 5 November 2015. Read the transcript here.
London’s population is the highest it’s ever been at 8.6 million and that figure is set to rise[1].
This projected growth could see the capital’s energy demand increase by 20 per cent by 2050[2].
- Based on this, is the target to cut London’s carbon emissions by 80 per cent in the same period realistic?
- How will the increased demand for energy from London’s growing population affect levels of other toxic pollution such as NO2?
- How can we increase our energy efficiency in London?
- How will the demand for electricity be affected by introducing more electric transport?
The London Assembly Environment Committee will tomorrow continue its investigation into the environmental impacts of London’s population growth by exploring the implications around energy demand, supply and infrastructure.
The guests are;
- Patrick Feehily – Assistant Director Environment, GLA
- Andrew Richmond – Policy & Programmes Manager (energy & waste), GLA
- Peter North – Senior Manager Programme Deliver – Sustainable Energy, GLA
