London’s economy – analysing the plan

London skyline
Created on
19 February 2018

The life sciences, tech and digital, engineering and construction sectors contribute considerably to London’s economy as direct sources of employment and output.

The aim of the Mayor’s Draft Economic Development Strategy (EDS) is to create a fairer more inclusive economy, create the conditions for growth and support London’s sectors.

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Economy Committee will discuss how skills and innovation can support these four sectors and the London economy generally.

  • Is there anything missing from the EDS?

  • Does the EDS provide the support these sectors will need to thrive?

  • How will it help improve diversity across workforces?

  • How can the Mayor support collaboration between business, colleges and universities?

The guests are:

  • Russ Shaw, Founder, Tech London Advocates & Global Tech Advocates
  • Sarah Haywood, Chief Executive Officer, MedCity
  • Barry Mortimer, London Director, Federation of Master Builders
  • Dr Rhys Morgan, Director of Engineering and Education, Royal Academy of Engineering
  • Pamela Dow, Chief Reform Officer, Catch 22

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 20 February from 10:00am in Committee Room 5 (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend
